While Israel is at war against Hezbollah in Lebanon in june and july 2006, strikes in the Gaza Strip continue on a daily basis. The Israeli military operation "Summer Rain" was launched after Palestinian militants kidnapped Cpl Gideon Shalit on the border of Gaza with Egypt, on June 25, 2006. In making incursions into Gaza and slowing down the humanitarian relief, the Israeli army is hoping to recover its kidnapped soldier and to dismantle Palestinian forces.
